LuftCar's SkyBase™ Reimagines the Vertiport as an Independent Energy Hub — Powering Air Mobility, Ground Transportation, and Communities From One Platform

Three-tier infrastructure platform puts on-site power generation at the core of vertiport design, offering grid-independent electricity for data centers and relief for ratepayers in grid-constrained communities
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — August 7, 2026 — LuftCar Air and Space Mobility, LLC, a dual-use aerospace infrastructure company, today detailed the expanded vision behind SkyBase, its vertiport platform that places energy infrastructure — not just aircraft operations — at the core of every site it designs.
Since introducing the concept in 2021, LuftCar has promoted the idea that transportation and energy belong on a single platform. SkyBase is built on that premise: each facility is designed first as an energy hub capable of refueling and recharging air mobility vehicles and road vehicles, while also supplying power to the surrounding community.
“As electrification continues to grow across the transportation industry, SkyBase’s design gives operators control over independent power delivery to every offtake it serves,” said Santh Sathya, Founder and CEO of LuftCar. “We didn’t design SkyBase as a place for aircraft to land that happens to have some power infrastructure attached. We designed it as an energy facility that happens to also serve air mobility.”
A Path Around the Grid for Data Centers
A central feature of SkyBase is its ability to power data centers directly, making them grid-independent and reducing the cost burden that new large-load facilities typically pass on to ratepayers. The approach is particularly relevant for communities that have adopted moratoriums on new large data centers because of the strain those facilities place on local grid capacity.
By generating power on site through a sustainable, independent method rather than drawing it from the grid, SkyBase can supply data centers and other large offtakers directly. That gives communities a way to capture the economic benefits of data center growth without adding to the burden on local grid infrastructure, or on the ratepayers who ultimately absorb it.
A New Revenue Stream for Operators
Because on-site generation is central to the SkyBase design, operators can sell power directly to data centers, fleets, and other offtakers, creating a revenue stream that runs independently of — and alongside — aviation-related activity at the same site.
Three Configurations, Scaled to Demand
SkyBase is offered in three configurations, scaled to the energy and mobility needs of the market each site serves:
- Urban SkyBase — a compact-footprint configuration for dense urban environments, with energy infrastructure sized to limited, localized demand.
- Regional SkyBase — a mid-scale configuration supporting a broader range of air mobility use cases alongside ground transportation, backed by substantial on-site energy infrastructure.
- Integrated Energy Hub — LuftCar’s largest configuration, built around an extensive energy infrastructure footprint that includes localized hydrogen generation, potential small modular nuclear reactors, and battery charging, alongside warehousing and other large-scale installations.
“SkyBase integrates transportation and energy into a single hub — a concept LuftCar has been promoting since 2021,” Sathya added. “As more of our transportation infrastructure electrifies, communities need power sources that don’t force a choice between growth and grid stability. SkyBase is built to be that source.”
Delivery Partnerships in Place
LuftCar has signed memoranda of understanding with several established construction and architecture firms to support SkyBase delivery. The firms are not being named at this time to maintain confidentiality.
Aligned With SkyPAATH™ for Data-Driven Siting
SkyBase’s dual-use vertiports are designed to work in tandem with SkyPAATH, LuftCar’s AI-powered airspace corridor management platform. Together, the two platforms allow states and communities to determine SkyBase vertiport locations based on demand and growth objectives, rather than aviation considerations alone.
